Zagreb Day Trip from Ljubljana & Otočec Castle by the Krka River

On the way to the Croatian capital, we will visit the only castle on the water in Slovenia - Otočec Castle near Novo mesto. The castle is located on the island of the river Krka, surrounded by a castle park where trees have been growing for over a hundred years. Today's image of castle architecture has been formed over many centuries. Its design dates back to the middle of the 13th century, a time stylistically marked by the transition from Romanesque to Gothic. The castle was burnt down by partisans during the Second World War, and then over the years it was renovated and turned into a boutique hotel, which offers luxury rooms and suites and a restaurant for the most demanding guests. We usually have coffee here too.

Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, is a relaxed and lively metropolis, boasting a picturesque medieval old town, museums, architecture, local good food and the hospitality of the locals. Explore Zagreb's squares and parks, walk from the main Ban Jelačič Square, see the Cathedral of the Assumption of Mary, continue through the famous Stone Gate to the Gornji Grad. Here is the Church of St. Mark, the Croatian Parliament and the Banski dvori, where Croatian bans once lived, but today is the main seat of government. You can also take the cable car that has connected Donji and Gornji Grad since 1890. Zagreb is especially enchanting during the Christmas holidays. The romantic city was declared the best Advent and Christmas destination in Europe.
